Daddy Yankee and His Estranged Wife Reached a Partial Deal in ‘Good Faith’

Well, guess it makes sense that a religious man would want to handle his business like that. Per Billboard, Daddy Yankee — the reggaeton icon who announced in 2023 that he would be devoting his life to Christianity — reached a partial agreement “in good faith” with his estranged wife Mireddys González during a December 20 court hearing in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This comes a week after the artist, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, alleged in legal filings that González had made unauthorized withdrawals of $100 million in funds from two of his companies. After private negotiations, the “Gasolina” singer and González have reportedly agreed that he will regain control of El Cartel Records and Los Cangris, becoming president of the companies on December 26. $75 million in corporate accounts will be off-limits while a management plan for the companies is developed over a period of 30 days. The rest of the money can be used as long as both parties authorize any transaction over $100,000, and Daddy Yankee has agreed to submit monthly reports on all corporate financial and administrative matters.

Daddy Yankee and González were high school sweethearts who got married in 1995. The pair, who share two children, confirmed earlier this month that they would be divorcing after 29 years of marriage. “I have always respected Mrs. González, and I ask that you respect her as well,” Daddy Yankee reportedly told the press after the December 20 hearing. “It was a very harmonious process. You know the process of faith that I am in. It’s the best thing for the family… that we were able to achieve things in good faith. All of this that is happening is for a greater purpose. I am sure of whom I serve, and I am sure that all things will go well.”
