Former CSK player and Delhi Capitals’ uncapped gem hits stunning 153 runs ahead of IPL 2025
New Delhi: Delhi Capitals picked uncapped batter Sameer Rizvi smashed 153 runs against Himachal in the Under 23 State Trophy.
Uttar Pradesh’s promising young batter, Sameer Rizvi, gained attention when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured him for a hefty Rs 8.4 crore during the IPL 2024 auction. However, after a disappointing performance last season, CSK decided to release him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Delhi Capitals (DC) acquired him for Rs 95 lakh in the mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The rising star showcased his explosive form once again, scoring a stormy century for Uttar Pradesh in the Under 23 State Trophy.
In the UP vs Himachal 50-over match in Vadodara, Sameer Rizvi emerged as the lone warrior for Uttar Pradesh, scoring a remarkable 153 runs off 114 balls. His innings included 14 fours and 12 sixes, with a strike rate of 134.21. Shaurya contributed 21 runs, helping UP post a total of 232 runs in 42 overs.
Himachal’s standout bowlers were Ritwik Kumar, who took four wickets, along with Aniket, who claimed three, and Sahil Sharma, who took two wickets. Their efforts helped Himachal secure a six-wicket victory in the match.
Himachal comfortably chased down the target in 45.4 overs. Openers Kushal Pal (12) and Inesh Mahajan (32) were dismissed early, but Aryavrat Sharma’s 66 and captain Mridul Suroch’s 32 kept them in the chase. In the end, Amanpreet Singh’s 48 and Vaibhav Kalta’s 28 guided Himachal to a six-wicket victory.
