Red Sox Rumors: Reliever Shipped To Familiar Trade Partner
UPDATE (7:33 p.m. ET): The White Sox officially announced the trade, which updates us on who the Red Sox got back.
Boston is acquiring minor-league right-hander Yhoiker Fajardo, who is still playing rookie ball.
ORIGINAL STORY (5:20 p.m. ET): The Red Sox continued to be active on the trade market Saturday.
Boston reportedly dealt left-handed reliever Cam Booser to the Chicago White Sox, according to Robert Murray of Fansided. It’s currently unclear what the return will be, as Chris Cotillo of MassLive confirmed.
Booser was a tremendous story for the club in 2024, finally making it to the big leagues after previously retiring and spending four seasons away from baseball. The Red Sox gave him an opportunity starting in mid-April, leading to a decent stint on the active roster in which the rookie procured a 3.38 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 43 relief appearances.
Boston named him the winner of the 2024 Tony Conigliaro Award, which recognizes a “major leaguer who has overcome adversity through the attributes of spirit, determination, and courage.”
The Red Sox made the 32-year-old expendable with acquisitions over the offseason, as Aroldis Chapman and Justin Wilson joined the likes of Brennan Bernardino, Zach Penrod and Chris Murphy as left-handed options in the bullpen.
Boston and Chicago, of course, previously completed a trade this offseason that sent Garrett Crochet to the East Coast.
