Twitter Gold: Man-Man Sings

This looks like a joyous moment

Khaman Maluach, most anyone would agree, has been through a lot. He grew up as a refugee and while many of us have known refugees, only someone who has lived through that can fully understand it. Lives are torn apart, families are separated, people suffer immense upheaval, up to and including death.

It takes a strong person to get through that, especially early in life. And it probably takes an extraordinary person to get through that with a keen sense of joy still intact.

And that’s exactly the impression we get from Maluach.

Admittedly it’s an impression from a distance, but he seems like a really good guy, and his teammates really seem to love him. His personality just seems infectious.

You get a sense of that in this little locker room video after Duke’s win over Georgia Tech Saturday.

First, coach Jon Scheyer asks Maluach what they should do to celebrate Cooper Flagg’s birthday and he says he thinks the team should stand and sing.

Then, after Happy Birthday is over, he makes up his own ditty and look how the team responds. It’s like a scene straight out of Ted Lasso.

Whatever else happens from here, it looks like something that will become one of the happy memories of this season.
