All Creatures Great and Small filming left in chaos as a BULL escapes on set – sending terrified cast and crew running
ALL Creatures Great and Small was left in a chaos after a BULL escaped on set – sending crew running.
The hit Channel 5 period drama returns to screens tonight with its Christmas special from the Yorkshire Dales.
Actor Nicholas Ralph, pictured on the left, recalled the incident while shooting a scene with the bull[/caption]Viewers will see fan-favourite Mrs Hall given bad news, which will majorly impact everyone in Skeldale.
As well as filming tear-jerking scenes, the All Creatures Great and Small cast and crew handle real-life animals.
During one shoot day, they were left stunned when a bull took a run at them on set.
Recalling the ordeal, Nicholas Ralph exclusively told The Sun: “We had one bull who was two tons. This was like one of the earlier series, but we were heading towards, through one field into another field.
“It was really muddy and rainy and everything. And the bull was coming behind us as we all made our way up to start shooting for the day.
“And then we just heard kind of a, do-do-do-do, kind of like Jurassic Park. And so we turned around and we just saw this two ton bull racing towards us.
“So we just parted, like it was me, the director and the DOP. I think we parted like the Red Sea, like two of us went that way, one of us went that way, and the bull ran straight through.”
Nicholas, who plays the iconic James Herriot in the period drama, continued: “Andy Barrett, our on-set vet, was kind of like skimboarding beside the bull in his wellies whilst he held onto the halter.
“So he was just like, yeah, like water skiing next to the bull. As it just, I just parted. And then it just stopped.
“And then everyone was like, ah, hold on, Andy, what happened? And he was like, ‘he’s a two ton bull, ff he wants to go for a run, he’s gonna go for a run’.
Earlier this year Channel 5 confirmed All Creatures Great and Small had been been given a double recommission.
Series six of the series – which is a reboot of the original ‘70s show of the same name – is set to begin production early next year.
All Creatures Great and Small Christmas Special airs on December 23 at 9pm on Channel 5.
