2024 is one of the best ever years for gaming and here are our five favourites

IN a year as excellent as 2024, it can be really difficult to pick out which games are the best.

However, having played over a hundred games that launched this year, we think we’ve found our must-buys.

If you’re looking for a great game to play from recent years, then we have some games we wish to recommend.

Here are the five best games from 2024.

5. Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle almost missed the cut off for 2024[/caption]

Indiana Jones didn’t make most people’s Game of the Year lists as it didn’t come out until December.

However, MachineGames nailed the vibe of a playable Indiana Jones film, with brutal melee combat and puzzle-filled tombs to raid.

Travel the world as the famous adventurer, with all of the humour and action you’d expect from stepping into Indy’s shoes.

4. Dragon’s Dogma 2

The world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 feels so alive[/caption]

Technical issues and a controversial DLC launch kept Dragon’s Dogma 2 off many’s best games lists, but we couldn’t put it down.

It takes the tired fantasy setting, throws it away, and makes everything feel alive with the people of the world acting whether you’re there or not.

It’s all about simulations and systems where two players will rarely experience the same quests in their playthroughs.

3. Astro Bot

Astro Bot scooped up four prizes, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards, and after playing for a few minutes, you can see why it’s so beloved.

It’s not just all of the nostalgic PlayStation VIP bots you can find, but the adorable animations, gorgeous art style, and interesting level mechanics.

Astro Bot has fast fluid movement with levels that vary between explorative and pure platforming skill.

2. Metaphor: ReFantazio

Metaphor: ReFantazio takes the system’s from Persona to another level[/caption]

Metaphor: ReFantazio is the new IP from many of the developers who worked on the modern Persona series.

As you might expect, it has a grandiose story, well-written characters, and turn-based RPG combat, but a lot is different from older games made by Studio Zero’s team.

Metaphor gives you more freedom than ever before as you can explore the open world of Euchronia.

1. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

But we keep coming back to the heart-wrenching story of Final Fantasy 7[/caption]

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is built on the bedrock of the 1997 original, containing the same intense gut punch of a story.

However, it brings things up to modern standards; filled with more stories and side quests, the world feels fuller than ever before.

It swings from whimsical to emotional in a heartbeat and still feels beautifully balanced.
