The fastest spacecraft ever heads for its close-up with the sun

On Tuesday, NASA's Parker Solar Probe will be passing within 3.8 million miles of the sun's surface around 6:40 a.m. Eastern time. This is seven times closer than any of the previous missions. Parker, which was launched in 2018, has inched progressively closer to the sun during 21 solar flybys, called perihelions.
