Investigation underway after Des Jacques Road home damaged in fire
SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- The Scott Fire Department is asking the public to come forward with information regarding a fire that damaged a home on Des Jacques Road this afternoon.
According to a news release, the fire was reported around 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Des Jacques Road.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the home.
Firefighters entered the home to search for possible victims. Once inside, firefighters saw moderate fire in one of the bedrooms. That fire was quickly brought under control. No victims were found inside, authorities said.
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, an intentionally set fire has not been ruled out as a possibility, authorities said.
The Scott Fire Department said the bedroom received major fire damage while the rest of the home sustained moderate smoke damage.
No firefighters were injured during the incident.
Duson and Judice Fire Departments responded to assist.
