Noughties indie icon reveals plans for 2025 reunion tour to celebrate 20th anniversary of hit album
PETE Doherty has revealed plans for a Babyshambles 2025 tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album.
Babyshambles got together in 2003 while Pete, 45, was on a break from his other band The Libertines.
He re-joined The Libertines in 2014 meaning Babyshambles has been largely inactive since.
The band was formed by Pete in 2003, and included Mick Whitnall, Drew McDonnell and Andrew Ficek.
And now Pete insisted they will do something to mark 20 years since the release of Down in Albion.
He said: “It is on the cards. We will get back together and get in a room with the instruments and play through the old songs, then get on stage and do it.”
Speaking to NME, Pete continued: “But it’s the ‘who’ and the ‘when’ that needs to be worked out.
“I think we’ll just keep that one on the horizon and deal with that one next year.
“Before then, I’ve got a new collection of songs which I’m putting out on my own label, which is tidy.”
And Pete also teased the possibility of new music from Babyshambles, adding: “I wrote a new song the other day that I think would really work as a ‘Shambles song.
“Who knows? It’s a long way off yet. It’s going to be next Autumn, so we’ll see.”
Pete was forced to take a break from The Libertines in 2003 due to drug problems.
But the singer was able to conquer his £200-a-day addiction to heroin and crack, and has reportedly been clean for four years.
These days, happily married dad-of-three Pete is practically unrecognisable from the gaunt figure who rose to further fame through his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss.
