Kate says ‘in times of sadness we are each others’ light’ as she’s surrounded by family in new trailer for carol service
PRINCESS Kate has given a sweet message after sharing behind-the-scenes footage from her Christmas carol service.
The Princess of Wales, 42, can be seen beaming as she greeted the children in unseen montage from her Together at Christmas service.
The concert was filmed at Westminster Abbey on December 6 with Kate’s husband Prince William, 42, and kids Prince George 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, six, watching from the front row.
The event was this year boosted by the help of Lady Gabriella Kingston, with Kate offered an advisory role on musical choices.
A post from William and Kate’s Instagram today said: “This service reflects upon the importance of love and empathy, and how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives.
“Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this year’s celebrations.”
The family can be seen arriving at the Abbey, before standing and taking part in songs during the concert inside.
The concert will be shown on ITV at 7.30pm tonight.
It will feature performances from singers Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.
It comes as Kate used her speech to ask viewers to “reflect” on how they can give the gift of love to others.
At the start of the service, she says: “Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, it is a time for presents, tinsel and mince pies, but it’s also a time to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all.”
And the Princess adds: “It is love which is the greatest gift we can receive, not just at Christmas, but every day of our lives.”
The televised service features three handpicked films made by community groups on the themes of love, empathy and kindness.
