'Give just a few dollars': Matt Gaetz uses ethics report on sex crimes for fundraiser

Former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) wants donations after a House Ethics Committee report accused him of prostitution, having sex with a 17-year-old girl and using drugs.

A day after its release, Fox News congressional correspondent Chad Pergram reported that Gaetz was "fundraising off the Ethics Committee report."

The former congressman pleaded with his supporters for donations even though he has said he is not interested in running for Congress again.

"After the House Ethics Committee committed to not releasing their report on me, the Uniparty Traitors have gone back on their word and plan to attempt to take me down with their sham witch-hunt report," Gaetz wrote, according to Pergram. "I'm about to get into the fight of my life, and I need your help ASAP."

"I'm humbly asking you to give just a few dollars — whatever you can spare — to help me DEFEND MY NAME AGAINST THESE SHAM WITCH-HUNTS and WIN for America First!"

Over the weekend, Gaetz pledged not to return to the U.S. House of Representatives. The former congressman, however, hinted at the possibility of running for the seat vacated by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of state.
