Donor buys remaining Oregon Ballet Nutcracker tickets and gives them away
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The Christmas season is a time of giving, and for one anonymous donor, that meant giving the gift of a free show from the Oregon Ballet Theatre.
Oregon Ballet Theatre announced Tuesday morning that an anonymous donor had purchased the 350 remaining tickets for their Christmas Eve matinee performance of the Nutcracker at Keller Auditorium and they gave them away for free.
The free tickets were announced online at midnight and within 15 minutes they were gone.
A statement shared by the Oregon Ballet Theatre said that the ticket giveaway helps give back and supports the ballet to continue putting on shows for the foreseeable future.
“Our gift for the ticket giveaway is in honor of all the people on and off stage who make the holidays so special for so many and provide financial footing for OBT to fulfill its mission year after year.”
Tuesday is The Nutcracker's final performance of the year.
