Wet holiday week on the way for Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A wet holiday week is on the way as lingering showers continue around the region on Christmas Eve.
Temperatures will remain above average for this time of the year with highs in the 50s expected from the coast through the valley.
After Tuesday, all eyes are focused on the next strong frontal system approaching the coast on Christmas Day. This system will bring plenty of valley rain and wind along with lowering snowfall levels in the Cascades.
By Wednesday night, snow will be picking up across the Cascades at or above 4000 feet, which could impact holiday travel over the passes. Wind will also increase along the coast and in the valley. Gusts as high as 35-40 mph are possible in the valley late Wednesday night. Stronger along the coast.
