Pittsfield City Council to open investigation on allegations against Pittsfield High School staff
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Pittsfield City Council unanimously voted to open an independent investigation into allegations against former and current staff members of the Pittsfield High School. This comes after three Pittsfield High School staff members were put on administration leave over the last two weeks.
There are allegations of misconduct leading to these staff members being placed on leave. Dean of Students Lavante Wiggins had been arrested and charged by the U.S. Attorney's Office for allegedly conspiring to traffic cocaine.
The two other faculty members are on leave due to investigations being conducted by the state's Department of Children and Families.
Pittsfield Mayor Peter Marchetti said, "I appreciate the support of the council standing beside me, I hope, not against me, to do this investigation but I want to be very clear as I stated in the school committee meeting, that this is not acceptable, and we will do a complete investigation."
