Asian shares mostly lower, with most world markets closed for Christmas

Shares declined in Tokyo and Shanghai while oil prices increased. The US stock market remained strong with gains in Big Tech stocks. American Airlines and US Steel rose, while NeueHealth surged after a buyout agreement. The S&P 500 is up 26.6 per cent this year, close to its all-time high.
