Man gets 4 years in prison after fatal attack of man in wheelchair at Austin nursing home

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced Dec. 12 in connection with the 2023 death of another man at an east Austin nursing home.

According to Travis County court documents, 63-year-old Ronnie Green pleaded guilty to the injury of a disabled person with the intent of bodily injury, a third-degree felony.

According to records, he was sentenced to serve four years in prison related to the Nov. 18, 2023, offense where he was accused of attacking another man sitting in a wheelchair at a nursing home.

The victim, later identified as 68-year-old Baron Godwin, died at the scene, according to Austin police.

Toward his sentence, Green received a jail credit of 390 days.
