Just under 20K without power across Oregon after high winds

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Thousands of people across Oregon are without power Thursday morning as high winds hit the state.

Across Portland, there have been reports of trees falling on power lines, roads and in the front yards of homes.

According to Portland General Electric's outage map, as of 11:00 a.m., there are just under 10,000 people without power across the Portland metro area and all the way south to Salem, down from just below 30,000 people earlier in the morning.

Pacific Power also shows almost 8,000 without power with a majority near Corvallis and along the southern coast.

Since midnight, wind gusts have been tracked up to 63 mph along the coast and up to 48 mph in the Portland metro.

PGE recommends preparing for possible outages by having an outage kit ready for emergencies.
