Second Street fire in Albany deemed accidental

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A vacant duplex on Second Street in Albany caught fire just before 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The Albany Fire Department was dispatched at 9:55 p.m. and the fire was under control at 11:53 p.m.

The heavy fire extended to a nearby home, per Albany Fire Chief Joseph Gregory. He said there were seven residents in the home at the time of the fire, but all of them evacuated before the fire department got there.

There were no firefighter injuries during the incident, but one person was injured and transported to a local hospital. The fire department found the fire to be accidental and said it started on the first floor near the back of the structure.
