NASA spacecraft 'safe' after closest-ever approach to Sun

NASA's Parker Solar Probe successfully completed its closest-ever approach to the Sun on December 24. The spacecraft, which flew 3.8 million miles from the Sun's surface, is confirmed to be safe and operating normally. It will send detailed data to help scientists understand more about the Sun's outer atmosphere, the corona.
