Rayne Police: Online feud leads to drive-by shooting, teen arrested
RAYNE, La. (KLFY) -- A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on Monday that police believe stems from an online argument with another juvenile.
In a social media post on Thursday, Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly announced the arrest of Tayshon Daigle. Daigle faces one count of attempted second-degree murder and his bond was set at $150,000 by Commissioner Andre Doguet.
The shooting occurred just before 2:30 a.m. on Monday in the 200 block of Martin Street.
Rayne police officers responded to multiple calls reporting a drive-by shooting. Arriving officers learned that an occupied home was hit multiple times by bullets.
"Disturbingly, one of the bullets struck within three feet of where a child was sleeping," Stelly said in the social media post.
Stelly said investigators determined that Daigle "fired multiple 9mm rounds into the home of a juvenile with whom he had been involved in an online feud."
