Low-end threat of severe storms tonight, another round possible Saturday

Storms are currently lining up across eastern Texas as low pressure, and its trailing front, push eastward.

These storms will push into western parts of Louisiana later this evening, sometime after 7pm, before moving into Acadiana later tonight.

Severe weather dynamics will be weakening substantially as the system pushes eastward, mostly because the upper-level wind dynamics will be moving northeastward later tonight, exiting the area. Despite this, some wind dynamics will remain and a low-end threat of stronger storms will still remain possible across Acadiana. The main threat will be stronger wind gusts, although we cannot rule out any storm gaining rotation. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has eastern Acadiana in a level one risk and western Acadiana in a level two risk of severe storms.

This front should wash out over the area tomorrow with rain chances remaining limited through our Friday. We'll see very warm temperatures with highs in the upper 70s.

The next round of storms moves in on Saturday with this system closely resembling the aforementioned one, which will be moving through tonight. For this reason, we could see another severe weather threat on Saturday before a strong cold front sweeps through. This front should clear us out through the early parts of next week with sunshine returning.

Warm temperatures still expected Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday--despite the frontal passage. The next significant cold front will come through New Years Eve, pushing colder temperatures into the region for the first few days of next year!
