Joey Lawrence & His Wife Share Romantic Photoshoot After He Made ‘Terrible Mistakes’ in His Marriage

It’s been a tough year for Joey Lawrence’s marriage to Samantha Cope, but they are ending December with a reconciliation and a hopeful outlook for the future. To celebrate this renewed commitment to their marriage after Lawrence’s alleged affair, they shared a romantic photoshoot together. 

The snapshots, posted on Instagram on Dec. 26, were taken on the beach as the duo gazed into each other’s eyes in almost every shot. (You can see the photos here.) Cope wore a sage-green dress with her blonde hair flowing in soft waves. Lawrence kept it casual with jeans and a white T-shirt. The love between them was evident as their newfound happiness shined brightly in each photo. Cope captioned the carousel of images with a quote by Mary Oliver, “Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable.”

Fans chimed in with their thoughts and advice for the couple, who have been married for two years and share a daughter, Dylan, 1. “Consider yourself lucky sir to have a forgiving wife and beautiful family,” wrote one follower in the comments. “Maybe renew your vows happy u all decided to fight for your fam,” another fan suggested. Lawrence also added his thoughts, “I am the luckiest man alive.”

Lawrence reportedly had a fling with his Socked In for Christmas co-star, Melina Alves. Their alleged affair was outed by Alves’ estranged husband, Edward Rider, when he blamed Lawrence for the demise of his marriage in his New Jersey divorce documents, per TMZ. He claimed that they became involved on the set of the film and the scope of their relationship went beyond a one-night stand. 

A Cope pal verified this story to People in August. “Joey met Melina Alves on the set of their movie, where she was a producer,” the insider said. “He then love-bombed her just like he love-bombed Samantha.” Cope and Lawrence went to couples’ therapy, but the Melissa & Joey star continued to “get ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out.”

Despite Alves denying their affair, Lawrence owned up to making “some terrible mistakes” to Entertainment Tonight in December. “You make some serious mistakes and then you don’t handle things correctly — there’s a lot of pressure,” Lawrence explained. “Going through it publicly doesn’t make it any easier and then you make some more bad decisions.”

Lawrence and Cope shared the news of their reconciliation at the premiere of their holiday film, Marry Christmas, on Dec. 4. The news surprised fans — and Alves. “While these situations are always multifaceted, I’d like to keep the details of it and my friendship with Joey private,” she wrote in a statement to People on Dec. 5. “As far as Joey and Sam reuniting and reconciling, it came as a surprise to me as everyone else, and if it’s true, I wish them all the love.”

It was a rocky year for Cope and Lawrence, but they are looking forward to a better 2025.
