Fabrizio Romano reveals what Tottenham will do in January transfer window
Fabrizio Romano is convinced that Tottenham will reinforce one area of the pitch in the January transfer window but revealed that Spurs are not looking to strengthen one other position despite having a key player out injured.
Are Tottenham set for a busy January?
Tottenham injury issues have severely exposed the lack of squad depth at the club, with the Lilywhites in need of reinforcements across the pitch.
One cannot put the injuries down to just bad luck any longer, with a clear pattern emerging of an increased number of muscle injuries since Ange Postecoglou took over 18 months ago.
The Australian himself has confirmed that his side needs bodies through the door and revealed that plans have been put in place to add players to the squad.
Fabrizio Romano on Tottenham’s January plans
Romano believes that Spurs are guaranteed to bring at least one attacker through the door next month, revealing that the North London side want to bolster their forward line.
The journalist told Men in Blazers: “I do think Tottenham will do something [in the January window], especially probably in the offensive positions, to add one more player there.”
However, despite the injury to Guglielmo Vicario, Romano does not expect Spurs to add another goalkeeper to the squad.
The Italian journalist added: “I don’t think Tottenham will sign a goalkeeper in the January transfer window.”
Tottenham need three signings for Postecoglou
There is no doubt that Tottenham need to sign a winger who is good in one-v-ones in January, preferably someone who is adept at playing on the right.
Spurs are also in need of a deep-lying playmaking midfielder as Rodrigo Bentancur‘s suspension has severely exposed Yves Bissouma’s limitations on the ball.
Finally, given Cristian Romero’s and Micky van de Ven‘s injury record, signing another pacy centre-back is also a must for the Lilywhites.
