Princess Charlotte Was Spotted Breaking Royal Tradition During the Family’s Christmas Day Walk in the Sweetest New Video
Just call her the Queen of Kindness, because 9-year-old Princess Charlotte isn’t letting royal tradition get in the way of connecting with well-meaning fans this holiday season! The young royal broke protocol on a Christmas Day walkabout at Sandringham with her parents Prince William and Kate Middleton, and her brothers Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 6, and a fan captured the sweet moment on video.
Charlotte looked gorgeous in a dark blue-and-black plaid coat with blue tights and a dark green bow in her long brown hair during the Christmas walk. But while most royals, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, stop to wave or have a quick chat with onlookers, Princess Charlotte did something more unexpected — she posed for a selfie with a fan!
A fan captured a video of the moment, per Hello!, showing Charlotte with arms full of flowers and other gifts from onlookers, pause to pose for a picture. A fan held out her phone and the princess leaned into smile. She is so sweet, and it’s cool to see how her gracious personality is shining through.
The family attended a Christmas morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church before the walkabout, where they all dressed nicely. The Princess of Wales coordinated with her daughter in an emerald green coat by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, which she paired with a matching hat and a green-and-blue scarf. Prince William wore a blue suit that matched his sons, with the Prince of Wales, George, and Louis all wearing different shades of blue and green ties.
During the walk, eagle-eyed fans noticed Charlotte was also wearing a beaded friendship bracelet, likely a souvenir from her Taylor Swift Eras Tour concert earlier this year. At that appearance in June, the princess showed her selfie game is strong as she smiled with the “Karma” singer, Prince George, and Prince William. “Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour,” the selfie posted to the official @princeandprincessofwales account was captioned.
The royal family has done a lot of modernizing over the years, and it seems we are officially in the era of the royal selfie. And it’s being heralded by Princess Charlotte herself!
