Tottenham press ahead with move for striker, ‘putting pressure on all parties’
Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to enter the race for Vitor Roque has now put all other suitors under pressure, with a transfer race now shaping up ahead of January.
Tottenham eyeing move for Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque
Vitor Roque may not have lived up to his potential at Barcelona but the striker has shown since his loan move to Real Betis in the summer just why there is so much hype around him.
The 19-year-old has six goals and two assists to his name so far, and it was reported last week that his displays at the Benito Villamarin Stadium had caught Tottenham’s attention.
Beits have the option to sign the Brazilian permanently for €25m (£20m) in the summer and it emerged a few days ago that the La Liga club were ready to issue Spurs a hands-off warning.
Race for Roque is now heating up
Estadio Deportivo are now the latest to report on Tottenham’s pursuit of the 19-year-old, claiming that things are getting rather heated in the transfer race.
It is revealed that Barca have an urgent need to raise funds in January in order to sign the players they want and register others in their squad, with the Catalan club thus ‘pressing to sell’ Roque in January.
In fact, it is revealed that Brazilian side Palmeiras have already tabled a €20m (£16.5m) bid for the teenager while adding that ‘Tottenham’s pounds are putting pressure on all parties’.
It is suggested that the North London club can offer Roque a ‘tempting salary’, thus putting the cat amongst the pigeons as various clubs scramble to sign the youngster.
Vitor Roque’s stance revealed amid Tottenham interest
Estadio Deportivo reveal that they also found out from the striker’s camp that they are appreciative of the interest shown by Tottenham and others.
However, Roque is currently not thinking about leaving Betis mid-season and wants to have a strong second half of the campaign in Seville, thus complicating Spurs’ pursuit.
In fact, an unnamed source close to the player is quoted as saying about his future: “Vitor Roque stays at Betis.”
