Ange Postecoglou is desperate for new faces at Tottenham

Postecoglou has repeated in a number of his recent press conferences that the side is in desperate need of reinforcements in a few areas across the pitch.

While the Australian has had to deal with a devastating injury crisis over recent months, there is no doubt that he is a man under immense pressure at the moment and will need to turn things around quickly to secure his future.

It seems like the 59-year-old will get the help he needs from the club, with various sources suggesting that Tottenham are expected to have a busy January.

Tottenham eyeing moves for midfielder and centre-back

The latest to make that claim is The Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, who confirms that the Lilywhites have now settled on a centre-back and a versatile forward as their top priorities, but they could also look to strengthen other areas of the pitch.

Kilpatrick backs up what we have heard from other outlets over recent weeks by revealing that Lens centre-half Abdukodir Khusanov is one of the names on Tottenham’s radar.

However, he points out that Postecoglou‘s men might have to battle Newcastle United, who are also keen on signing the Uzbekistan international.

Additionally, the journalist reveals that Eberechi Eze is a player that Spurs hugely admire but adds that the chances of Crystal Palace sanctioning a deal in January are low.

Why Tottenham’s top targets are not yet clear

Unlike the Fabio Paratici era, when it was usually pretty clear who Tottenham’s top targets were for each position, there has been very little clarity on the club’s transfer targets over recent windows.

Kilpatrick says in his column that this is because of the way that technical director, Johan Lange, works, with the Dane preferring to operate in the shadows.

The reporter points to how the Wilson Odobert deal was kept completely under wraps in the summer before it happened and suggests that we could see similar developments in January.
