Rohit Sharma’s frustration caught on camera as Yashasvi Jaiswal drops three simple catches, Watch Video

New Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah spearheaded India’s fightback with a brilliant spell, as Australia lost 8 wickets for 157 runs on Day 4 of the 4th Test. They could have lost an additional wicket, but Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fielding mishaps thwarted that, much to the frustration of captain Rohit Sharma.

India is currently facing Australia in the 4th Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. After being put on the backfoot by Australia’s bowlers, India made a strong comeback on Day 3, thanks to Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored his maiden century. Jasprit Bumrah continued the fightback with a brilliant spell, as Australia lost 8 wickets for 157 runs. They could have lost a 9th wicket, but Yashasvi Jaiswal’s horror day in the field prevented that, much to the frustration of captain Rohit Sharma.

Yashasvi Jaiswal dropped his first catch in the third over, missing a difficult chance to dismiss Usman Khawaja when he was on just 2 runs. However, the next two drops were even more costly, as Jaiswal missed opportunities to dismiss the in-form Marnus Labuschagne and Pat Cummins.

When Australia were 99/6, Marnus Labuschagne edged a ball from Akash Deep straight to the gully, where Yashasvi Jaiswal was standing. He dropped what should have been a simple catch. Rohit Sharma, stationed at first slip, expressed his frustration, while the bowler shot him a stern, angry glance.
Jaiswal dropped Pat Cummins just before tea, with the Australia captain on 20, at silly point off a Ravindra Jadeja delivery. It was a regulation catch, but he couldn’t hold on.

Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne then put together a crucial 57-run partnership for the 7th wicket, extending Australia’s lead to over 250. Labuschagne went on to score 70 runs, his third half-century of the series, before being dismissed by Mohammed Siraj, caught LBW.

Earlier in the day, Jasprit Bumrah stole the spotlight, picking up four quick wickets to become the fastest Indian pacer to 200 Test wickets. Mohammed Siraj also impressed with 3 wickets, as Australia led by 262, having lost 8 wickets.
