Heading into 2025, Matt McMartin Gets Ready for a Near Year of Bone Stock Action

After finishing 15th in a pack of racers numbering almost 30 strong, Matt McMartin is already counting the days until the start of Peterborough Speedway’s 2025 Bone Stock schedule.

The 16-year-old from Little Britain, Ontario is part of a group of young racers that has been thrilling fans at the popular Central Ontario oval. Backed by the family business Lakeside Mobile Tire, along with Aerial Work Utilities, Babin’s Automotive, Al Armstrong Transportation and Septic and Clarke Motorsports Communications, Matt McMartin will be looking to build on his career best finishes of 4th in a qualifying heat and 8th in a feature event.

“The motor blew in that main event but I took that checkered flag running head-to-head with Christen Lavalle so it was worth it,” Matt McMartin admitted. “Over the next couple of seasons, I’d like to see if we can have a solid run and score a top 3 effort or better. I want to keep racing as long as I can and then eventually work my way up to running a Legend Car.”

While it is customary for racers with limited experience to run a stripe of yellow tape on their rear bumper, Matt McMartin’s crew took that tradition to the extreme by adding the words “rookie driver’ to back panel of his No. 16 machine during the first laps of his motorsports career.

“Even though I arrived on the scene without any previous experience, I’ve quickly fallen in love with the sport,” said Matt McMartin, who is in the 11th grade at I.E. Weldon Secondary School in Lindsay. “I’ve met some amazing people and made some life-long friends.”

Although there is a downs-side to racing with the possibility of being caught-up in a wreck, McMartin says he loves the adrenaline rush that comes with racing. He says it makes his skin and all his senses tingle being in the heat of competition on the track. The driver says he appreciates everyone involved with the No. 16 Bone Stock team, including crew chief Rob Crick and his trainer (and Mom), Ashley McMartin. Scott McMartin, Makayla Jones, along with Angelo and Kyle Novis are quick to lend a hand at track.

Fans and friends can catch Matt McMartin during weekly events during the 2025 Peterborough Speedway season and stay up to date with the team by liking and following LMT Motorsports on Facebook.
