Jimmy Carter, who died at 100, has a village near Delhi named after him

Former US president Jimmy Carter passed away at the age of 100. He visited India in 1978, and a village in Haryana was named Carterpuri in his honor. Carter's visit strengthened US-India relations. He had a personal connection to India through his mother, who worked there as a Peace Corps volunteer. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
