India to add two frontline warships and a submarine to blue-water fleet in 2025
The Indian Navy is set to enhance its maritime capabilities with the induction of two advanced warships, INS Surat and INS Nilgiri, along with the submarine INS Vagsheer. These state-of-the-art platforms, designed for diverse combat roles, will reinforce India’s presence in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). Amid escalating challenges from China’s expanding naval footprint, India continues to focus on indigenous shipbuilding, with 60 vessels currently under construction to modernise its fleet and maintain strategic dominance.
