Fans spot Luke Humphries’ ‘extremely classy’ gesture in the heat of battle with Peter Wright despite brutal mind games
LUKE HUMPHRIES impressed fans with an “extremely classy” gesture in the heat of his battle against Peter Wright.
The two darts stars went head-to-head in last night’s third-round World Darts Championship thriller at Ally Pally.
Defending champ Humphries was out to prove a point after becoming embroiled in a pre-match war of words with Wright.
Yet it was the veteran ‘Snakebite’ who emerged triumphant in a 4-1 victory.
The Mohawk-sporting slinger showed no mercy as he followed up his fighting talk with some impressive numbers on the darts board.
And Humphries was left to lick his wounds, having boasted that just one more WDC title will see him match Wright’s entire career.
But despite the back and forth before a dart had been thrown, both men showed each other plenty of respect on stage.
They exchanged warm hugs at the end of their brutal battle.
While earlier in the match, Humphries made an “extremely classy” gesture which delighted fans.
He was 3-1 down in sets and looking to get off to a flyer in the fifth when Wright delivered a brutal blow.

Humphries could only watch with amazement as Wright sealed the first leg with a Bullseye finish, delighting the Ally Pally crowd.
As the two-time champ walked back to the podium, Humphries cracked a wry smile before offering his hand out for a fist bump.
Wright gladly accepted it, with the mark of respect going down well with fans.
One said: “Luke Humphries fist-bumping Peter Wright after that bullseye finish at this stage of his shock defeat was extremely classy, especially after all the mind games.”
Another declared: “Didn’t see that coming, not like Humphries played badly either.”
One noted: “What a classy player Humphries is, gracious in defeat.”
Another added: “Class to be fair, even at the end he was great with Peter.”
