Tottenham did not get the win they desperately needed

Spurs returned to home comforts on Sunday and desperately needed the three points against Wolves to start to get their season back on track following back-to-back losses against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest.

However, it was a tired performance from the Lilywhites, who never really managed to get full control of the game.

Despite that, it looked like they might walk away with three points, only for Jorgen Strand Larsen to net an 87th-minute equaliser, which completely changed the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and piled even more pressure on Postecoglou.

Tottenham’s stance on Ange Postecoglou before the game

The Telegraph’s Matt Law has now revealed that ahead of kick-off, the message he got from Spurs was that Postecoglou’s job was not under any immediate threat.

The journalist reported that his sources at Spurs informed him that it was ‘business as usual’ at the club.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Tottenham hierarchy have changed their stance after another disappointing result. One would imagine that alarm bells are going off at Hotspur Way at the moment.

What Postecoglou said after draw against Wolves

After seeing his side fail to wrap up the win, Postecoglou admitted that he was disappointed with the way the game ended and his side’s second-half performance as a whole.

However, he pointed out that fatigue was always going to be a factor, given that he is not able to rotate his squad at the moment due to injuries.

The Tottenham boss told Football.London: “It’s obvious, you know, the lads are fairly fatigued, especially in that front third, we’re not as sharp as we can be, which is understandable because we’re asking a lot of a sort of small core group of players and, as I said, it’s not for the want of trying and they’re trying to get the outcomes for us.”
