Off the Beaten Path: Top 3 Hidden Gems of 2024

(NEWS10) - As we enter 2025, we’re taking a look back on the top three most popular 'Off the Beaten Path' locations, based on web clicks. It may come as no surprise, that two of the top three spots are restaurants proving once again your big appetite for discovering a delicious meal.

In third place, you were swooning over this new bookstore in Glen Falls, offering an education in the love department. Just One More Chapter is a bookstore dedicated to romance novels. 

“Because the world is dark and grey, and we can all use a little bit more love," said Ashley Brownell, the owner.

The second spot on our list goes to Saratoga Hot Dog Company. For 20 years, Kathy Kahl has relished the opportunity to serve up “awesome dogs.” Their signature item, an Awesome Dog, comes with Kathy’s homemade meat sauce. If you add sauerkraut to it, you’ll get the Dirty Dog. They also have bratwurst, kielbasa, burgers, homemade pasta salads, potato salads, and fresh squeezed lemonade.

Saratoga Hot Dog Company is located in the parking lot of Quality Hardware and EBI. They are open seven days a week during the season, weather-permitting.

Known to sell between 500 and 800 bagels on the weekend, the Latham Bagel Shop takes the first place spot by a landslide. Behind their fan-favorite bagels is a woman, on a mission to overcome her past and create a better future for herself.

“Everybody loves bagels, and you can’t go wrong with bagels. Like I have a little sign 'you can’t buy happiness but you can buy bagels and it's kind of the same thing,” said Julie Hohn, the owner.
