Draymond Green’s unique leadership moment with Buddy Hield goes viral

I wonder if Draymond yelling at me at work would increase my blogging productivity?

I wrote an article recently talking about Draymond Green’s friendship/rivalry with the Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant, and how a big part of it was Green’s massively vocal expressions towards the legend KD both as a teammate and as a foe.

Green is Golden State’s enforcer and resident junk talker, the guy who is going to get in the face of everybody to express exactly what he feels. It could be a coach who needs to challenge a terrible foul call. It could be a referee who is absolutely jobbing the team with those aforementioned bad calls. It could be an opponent who Green wants to throw off his game with psychological warfare. And it can definitely be an opponent who isn’t handling their business.

Last game against the Suns Green’s teammate Buddy Hield was on the wrong side of one of those expletive-filled conversations, caught fully on camera.

I wonder if KD caught that exchange and shook his head like, “This guy is still running the team with fire and desire like Rick James.” Remember it was Green who infamously called Durant out so viciously as teammates that Durant later cited it as part of the reason he left the dynasty.

But I can think of a time beforehand where Green first publically roasted KD for poor decision making, in KD’s first season with the Dubs, in a terrible blown game to the rival Memphis Grizzlies. During a key late possession, Durant went iso ball against Memphis while his teammates watched. Green was visibly distressed during the play as KD missed a three-pointer over Zach Randolph.

Funny enough, KD would use that exact shot to later win championships and win NBA Finals MVPs. Process above all, I guess?

Anyways, here’s Green’s full soundbite about that funny, viral moment with Hield.
