Liv Conlon, who works for The Property Stagers, shared the trends that should be left in 2024.

In a Daily Mail article, the property professional explained how simple decor mistakes can make or break your home.

For her first tip, Liv recommended finding the right balance between minimalist white and pattern overload.

She detailed how all-white homes make spaces look unhabitable and sterile.

Meanwhile, overdoing it on loud colours and decor can make it difficult for prospective homeowners to envision living in the home.

Liv suggested keeping your creative flair for smaller items such as cushions and vases.

And to avoid a clinical and uninviting all-white home, you can add life to your space with neutral shades or subtle pops of colour in your decor.

For her next recommendation, she broke down why a fun retro-style kitchen may be worth avoiding.

The property pro explained that this decor trend can be a “gamble” if you want your home to remain timeless.

Instead, she advised opting for a “fresh and functional” finish for your kitchen.

For examples of timeless features, she named quartz countertops and stainless steel appliances.

And as for the styles that she predicts will take off in 2025, Liv has a few suggestions.

She explained that minimalism with a twist is the way to go in the new year.

This involves incorporating soft earthy tones into your home, such as subtle greys, oatmeal, and muted terracotta shades.

According to the expert, these colours strike the “perfect balance” in your space.

Trends interior designers hate

IF you want to ensure that your home looks glam, here are the trends that interior designers can't stand.

NO YELLOW: According to Bilal Rehman, yellow paint in a bedroom is a big no no.

He said: “If you want everyone to know you’re a horse girl then yellow is perfect for you.”

SIGN OFF: Kelly Hoppen shared her honest thoughts on Live, Love, Laugh signs.

The interior pro explained: “Another gripe of mine – Live, Laugh, Love – those kinds of wooden things that sit on book shelves and floating shelves, that’s so 10, 12, 15 years ago.”

NO GREY YAY: Julie Provenzano explained that grey interiors have been overdone.

She stressed: “We took a good thing and we overdid it to the point that it now feels copy, paste, basic.”

They add warmth and depth to the room without overwhelming the space.

For a polished expensive look, she recommends pairing these tones with black accents.

You can further enhances these warm tones by putting an emphasis on your cosy chic decor.

This means layering textured fabrics and avoiding a staged of sterile finish.

She also recommends focusing on creating a permanent office space that helps elevate your work from home experience.

To complete this room, Liv suggested opting for real plants over artificial ones and adding statement lighting.
