Beed sarpanch murder case: Pressure on Maharashtra govt to take action

The kidnapping and murder of Santosh Deshmukh has shocked Maharashtra as the latter had a clean reputation and was allegedly killed after he stopped the extortion attempt of a solar power company in Beed. The killing has also resulted in caste fissures coming out in the open as Deshmukh belonged to the Maratha community and the alleged killers are from the Vanjari community that is the OBC community.
