BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- This evening will be cloudy and breezy as leftover rain and snow chances move away from WNY. Clouds will be plentiful overnight with a chance for a few brief breaks. The wind will continue to fade overnight.
Tuesday will be another mild day with high temperatures in the mid 40s. It will be cloudy with some spotty early drizzle and widespread rain showers arriving for most areas by mid afternoon. Showers will continue on and off through the night and into the new year. If you're heading out to the ball drop raingear is suggested. That said, there will be some breaks in the showers that could still time out for at least the actual countdown to midnight itself and for at least a couple hours overnight.
Much colder air starts to arrive during the day Wednesday and will continue into the weekend. This will set up WNY to see some minor widespread flakes by late Wednesday and more targeted lake-effect snow for the remainder of the week. A Winter Storm Watch begins Wednesday AM and goes through the weekend.
