Turning Point In Joseph Radhik’s Career

Radhik’s passion for photography began at the age of 17, but he initially viewed it as a hobby rather than a profession. After earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Osmania University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM Indore, he embarked on a corporate career in FMCG sales.

However, a personal milestone changed his trajectory. In 2008, while photographing his sister’s wedding, Radhik discovered his love for wedding photography. His enthusiasm deepened when, a year and a half later, a photograph from a friend’s wedding went viral on social media platforms like Facebook and Flickr. Within 11 months, Radhik quit his corporate job to pursue photography full-time.

In a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session, Radhik shared insights into his journey and offered advice to aspiring photographers. Reflecting on his career transition, he encouraged individuals to pursue their hobbies with passion.
“My advice: your hobby is not going anywhere. Get so good at it that it pushes you away from your main career,” he said.

He also highlighted the unique joy of wedding photography. “Looking back, I’d choose it any day for the joy of the job itself. The highs in this profession far outweigh other genres, and it deserves more global attention.”
