J’ouvert jumper crosses line

A teenager who joined in a j’ouvert band on Sunday without having an entry pass, may well have to jump at the opportunity to do community service.

Jayden Tyrell Haynes, 19, of 1st Avenue Goodland, St Michael, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He confessed to unlawfully entering the band Impulse J’ouvert while it was on a designated route and while he was not a member, nor had he been given permission by Toni Butts, a person who was authorised to grant permission.

The court ordered the young landscaper to meet with the Probation Department with a view to organising community service. (SD)
