Former DOC officer accused of raping two inmates

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Criminal charges have been filed against a former corrections officer accused of sexually assaulting two inmates inside a state prison.

An inmate came forward with video of the alleged rape. The Department of Corrections fired the officer immediately after.

A short time later, another inmate claiming to be a rape victim came forward.

D'Shaunn Dixon, a former officer at the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, now finds himself locked up, charged with allegedly raping two inmates.

According to court documents, in March, Dixon was arrested and fired after the Department of Corrections received a video from another inmate showing what looked like Dixon having sex with an inmate.

"Regarding the alleged incident at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, the agency was already investigating the inmate's accusations well before receiving the cellphone footage. Having the video certainly assisted our agents in expediting the officer's arrest and termination."

Court documents go onto say, investigators interviewed the victim after seeing the video to make sure it was Dixon.

The victim told investigators Dixon would bring her contraband in exchange for sex.

Shortly after his arrest in March, another inmate came forward claiming they were also a victim.

An investigation now leading to more possible charges against Dixon after being served a warrant for his arrest last month.

"The Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) is committed to zero-tolerance standard towards all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment between employees and offenders. The Office of Inspector General oversees the agency’s efforts, including PREA investigations under the Prison Rape Elimination Act. Inmate safety and security are a top priority and all accusations are treated with the same respect and urgency. We have policies and procedures in place to investigate every accusation swiftly and thoroughly. Those policies are accessible for public review on the ODOC website."

Dixon has been charged with second degree rape on the first victim, and has a court hearing in January for the second victim for first degree rape charges.

He currently sits in the Pottawatomie County jail.
