Outside lawyers acquired for Pittsfield HS misconduct case
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10)-- The Pittsfield School Committee approved hiring an outside lawyer after the city announced on Tuesday, December 24, that it was conducting an independent investigation into high school staff misconduct.
The investigation follows the U.S. Attorney's Office arrest of the Dean of Students, Lavante Wiggins, for alleged conspiracy to traffic cocaine. Additionally, two other employees are on leave after the state's Department of Children and Families investigations.
The school committee said there will be two investigations, one into the misconduct and the other as an audit of the human resources practices. Stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
