Gansevoort man accused of having 3 ounces of cocaine
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Gansevoort man was arrested Monday morning following a traffic stop in Saratoga Springs. Police said Jon Carpenter, 39, had about 87 grams of cocaine on him, equating to just over three ounces.
Saratoga Springs Police Officers conducted a traffic stop on Lake Avenue when they said they saw paraphernalia associated with narcotic consumption. Carpenter was asked to step out of the car and allegedly tried to flee on foot, leading to a brief foot pursuit before being arrested.
Carpenter was charged with the following:
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell
- Third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Resisting arrest
- Two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
- Second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
He was arraigned in Saratoga Springs City Court and held pending a future court appearance.
