Hoda Kotb's Is Leaving Space for This Aspect of Her Personal Life When She Exits the 'Today' Show
Hoda Kotb’s dating life has been a hot topic of conversation on the Today show ever since she split with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman in 2022. There was an on-air flirtation with Kevin Costner in June, but that meet-cute moment didn’t go anywhere. With the 60-year-old TV personality’s exit from the morning show less than two weeks away, Kotb is reportedly ready to hold space for romance.
Fans held out hope for a reconciliation with Schiffman when he was spotted in her Instagram photos over the holidays, but a Closer Weekly source shot down that idea. “As far as a reconciliation goes, which everyone is hoping for, I just don’t think that’s in the cards for them,” they claimed. “Never say never, but they’re both set in their ways and happy with the way things are.”
Once she leaves on Jan. 10, Kotb’s grueling early morning schedule will be done and she can “get out there and breathe, relax, then hopefully connect with that special someone at long last.” A relationship is what she would love to manifest for 2025, telling People in October, “I think, when I look in my crystal ball or at my tea leaves way down the road, I do see that. I picture that — a great love down the road. And I see it.”
Still, her two daughters, Hope, 5, and Haley, 8, are her top priority as they acclimate to their new lives in the suburbs after years of living in New York City. It’s little things, it’s taking them to school, it’s being at the games, you know, it’s being present, and that’s all I want. Suburban mom life, let’s go,” she told Extra recently “I got a minivan. We’re in it. I didn’t know I was going to be such a suburban mom, but I turned.”
Kotb was previously married to former University of New Orleans tennis coach Burzis Kanga from 2005 to 2008. She began dating financier Schiffman in 2013 after they met at a New York City event. They went public with their romance in 2015 and moved in together a year later. In 2019, they were engaged, but their blissful days ended three years later with an announcement on the Today show.
“Joel and I have had a lot of prayerful and really meaningful conversations over the holidays, and we decided that we’re better as friends and parents than we are as an engaged couple,” she said on the show in January 2022. “So, we decided that we are going to start this new year and begin it kind of on our new path as loving parents to our adorable, delightful children, and as friends.”
Perhaps 2025 is Kotb’s year of big changes and major love!
