Bunting, a former Lakeside world champ, is an avid Liverpool fan.

The 39-year-old hopes to reach a maiden final on Friday – and parade his trophy at Anfield days later.

Liverpool face Man Utd on Sunday in the Premier League, with Arne Slot’s side looking to extend their lead at the summit.

Asked if he would show off the PDC trophy on the field before the game, Bunting replied: “It would be fantastic.

“And I think it would be made even more fantastic because we’re playing Man Utd.

“So that’d be unbelievable. Just to shove that trophy down their throats as well.”

Following his win over Luke Woodhouse, Bunting compared the vocal Ally Pally crowd to Liverpool’s “12th man.”

He added: “When we’re up on this stage it’s a very lonely place.

“When things aren’t going right, it’s so tough and we need you guys behind us 100 per cent.”

Bunting is keen not to get ahead of himself as he aims to book a place in the PDC semi-finals for the first time since 2021.

Asked what it would be like to win the title, he said: “It’d be a dream come true.

“At the end of the day, it’s difficult. I’ve got so many more games left to play.

“And I’d be stupid to be thinking about the title now.

“I’ve still got Peter Wright to play in the next round. I’m fully focused on that game.”

Bunting’s big rival Luke Littler is a Man Utd fan – and currently favourite for the crown.

Littler beat Ryan Joyce 4-3 in a thriller on Monday night, with the 17-year-old and Bunting on a potential collision course in the semis.

United meanwhile are on a dismal run in the Premier League under new manager Ruben Amorim.

They currently sit 14th having lost four of their last five games in all competitions.
