Man driving at 122 mph in Jackson County arrested after trying to lose deputies in fog

JACKSON COUNTY (KSNT) - Deputies in Jackson County arrested a northeast Kansas man who was allegedly driving more than 50 mph over the speed limit.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office announced that a deputy was patrolling around 10 p.m. on Dec. 27 on northbound U.S. 75 near where it meets 302nd Road when a vehicle passed by heading south on the highway at 122 mph in a 65 mph zone. The deputy began following the vehicle and tried to pull it over but it refused to stop.

Deputies lost track of the vehicle after its lights were shut off and it disappeared into the fog. Law enforcement later found the vehicle through the use of a license plate reader.

The driver of the vehicle, a 39-year-old man from Horton, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 and booked into the Jackson County Jail. He was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving and other traffic-related violations.
