Multiple people injured in balloon-drop incident at Massachusetts arcade

(NEXSTAR) – Nearly a dozen people suffered minor injuries during a balloon drop at an arcade in Massachusetts.

The New Year's Eve event took place at an arcade called In the Game, located roughly 20 miles northeast of Boston in the city of Peabody.

Cellphone footage recorded by Terri Whitaker shows a packed gathering of people cheering as they wait for the balloons to fall, confetti falling from the ceiling.

Cheers of excitement quickly changed to horror when the netted balloons pulled a large Lego display down onto the crowd below, including multiple children, Storyful reports.

Peabody police said that 10 people sustained minor injuries and eight were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two people declined medical transport.
