Mum and four daughters found murdered in hotel room on New Year’s Day
A mum and her four daughters were found dead in a hotel room on New Year’s Day.
The women and girls are believed to have been murdered by her son on Wednesday in Lucknow, India.
He is suspected of taking his relatives to the Hotel Sharanjit in the Naka area and killing them as part of a family dispute.
A 24-year-old man named only as Arshad, from Agra, has been arrested over the murders.
The victims have been named as mum Asma, and daughters Alshia, 19, Rahmeen, 18, Aksa, 16 and nine-year-old Alia – all sisters of Arshad.
His father Badar is also a suspect and is believed to be on the run.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Raveena Tyagi said: ‘The accused, identified as Arshad allegedly killed five members of his own family.
‘Following the gruesome act, the local police promptly apprehended the accused from the crime scene.’
Forensic officers are examining the scene for evidence.
Joint Commissioner of Police Babloo Kumar added: ‘Inquiry is also being conducted with nearby hotel staff, and any findings will be shared with the media as soon as they come to light.’
