How to keep new year's resolutions throughout 2025

TOPEKA (KSNT) - As of today, 2024 is in the rearview mirror and we're off to the races with 2025.

With each year comes highs and lows, and you never know what may come your way. But if one thing is for certain, every year people try to get off to a good start. For most people that comes with new year's resolutions that people set for themselves.

"I just want to be more healthier, happy and I'm just gonna stay positive, focused and patient," Octavia Merando said.

"I'm graduating this year. Trying to just maintain all my status I guess," Deagan Corder said. "Then once I get to college just maintain my happiness and livelihood I guess."

While people have goals in mind for the year, how often do people accomplish them? According to the Associated Press, studies show that up to 70% of people end up abandoning their resolutions within a few months. That's why it's important to start small and think positively.

"Setting small goals for myself throughout the year, something that's easily attainable and not keep myself so overwhelmed, you know, with how big the goals could be," Cecil Corder said.

According to a 2020 study by the National Library of Medicine, common new year's resolutions are focused around exercise, work, relationships and personal finances.

"Focus on getting money. That's it," Kane Moreno said. "Money's the solution to everything I feel like. Money gets you power, and money gets you through the world, and so do what you can to get your money up."

So whether it be to get more money, physical health or maintain happiness, remember to stay positive and set small goals for yourself throughout the way to help you accomplish your ultimate goal.

Other ways you can help yourself in achieving your new year's resolution is by involving other people in them so they can help keep you accountable.
