What’s open in NYC on New Year’s Day?
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – The holiday season continues with the start of 2025, meaning some stores will have adjusted hours.
All post offices and government buildings are closed Wednesday for New Year’s Day, as well as New York’s Costco locations. But many stores will remain open for regular business on the holiday.
Here’s what stores are open on New Year’s Day in New York City:
- Target: Most Target locations are open until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m.
- Walmart: Walmart locations in New Jersey and Long Island are open until 11 p.m.
- CVS: Most CVS stores are open, but pharmacies close earlier than the general store
- Walgreens & Duane Reade: Walgreens and Duane Reade stores are open until 10 p.m. or 11 p.m., but their pharmacies are closed
- Wegmans: Wegmans opened at 7 a.m. for regular hours
- Fairway: Fairway Markets are open through the evening with varying closing times.
- Whole Foods: Whole Foods stores are open until 8 p.m.
- Key Food: Key Food locations are open until 9 p.m., 10 p.m., or 11 p.m.
- Ace Hardware: Open for regular hours
- Rite Aid: Rite Aid stores are open for shortened hours but pharmacies are closed
- Foodtown: Open for regular hours
