Weekend preview: Women return against Rovers
Royal Wootton Bassett Town will be aiming to get off to a strong start to the new year when they return to South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North action at home against Paulton Rovers on Sunday. Kick off is 2pm at the Sustain Stadium. Adam Wood's team will be seeking to get themselves back into the top half - and back into contention for a top three (and potentially top two) finish - against a Rovers side who are currently towards the bottom. However, Paulton proved tough opposition when the sides met in Somerset earlier in the year, with Bassett only able to come away with a point from a 1-1 draw. Admission on Sunday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members. Prior to that, Saturday sees the Men's First Team face a significant test of their playoff potential when Bassett visit Sporting Club Inkberrow for the first ever time in the Hellenic League Premier Division (3pm kick off). Inkberrow currently sit ahead of Bassett in the table with Sam Collier and his side hoping to reel their hosts in. Bassett did record an impressive 3-1, come from beyond win when the sides met in Wiltshire. But Inkberrow are unbeaten in the seven games they have played since - a streak that has seen them beat playoff contenders Fairford Town, Highworth Town and Mangotsfield United, as well as draw away at Roman Glass St George. Meanwhile, the Development team are in derby action at home against Calne Town Reserves in the Wiltshire League Premier Division (Sustain Stadium, 2pm kick off). Bassett suffered a 5-0 defeat in the reverse fixture - but do have a win to their name against Calne's first team since then, having prevailed 2-1 in the Wiltshire Senior Cup. Admission on Saturday is £4 for adults, £2 for concessions and free for RWBTFC youth members.
